Is my ex trying to cheat...with me?!!!?

I was married for 22 years...he cheated...I threw him out. That was 8 years ago. He called me up and asked me to spend fourth of July weekend in a hotel with him. He plays poker and the tournament is held in a nice hotel. So he said I could get to enjoy the room. I said sure. I called him and he couldnt talk. He didnt call the next day either. I called and told him to cancel our plans. I feel he should have called me back or spoke to me when I called. Whats the problem. I think he may have a girlfriend and trying to cheat with me. Am I jumping to conclusions or is this the behavior of a cheater. If a man invites his ex out of town shouldnt he respond when she calls unless there may be another female present and he couldnt take the call.
